Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certification
The FSC is an international organization that helps orchestrate responsible use of the world’s forests.  Through their forest product certification program, the FSC mandates that each entity in the supply chain of printed products be certified in the chain-of-custody procedure for handling FSC certified materials.  Certified suppliers are audited on a yearly basis to ensure they are in compliance with the procedures.  The goal of this program is to promote printing products responsibly in order to preserve the world’s forests. 

Stochastic Screen Printing
Unlike conventional AM (amplitude modulated) screening, where dots are all equally spaced yet they vary in size – stochastic FM (frequency modulated) screen dots vary in spacing while the dot sizes remain the same.  Some of the benefits of stochastic screening include:  lower dot gain, smoother tints, smoother type, printing of fine line screens, and the elimination of moiré.  However, conventional AM screening does a better job with flesh tones, vignette reproduction, and is a much easier process to work with on press. 

Web-2-Print Applications
All applications and storefronts are different and may be customized to a particular customer.  This allows the customer to log in and view their collateral materials entirely on the web.  They can modify templates and automatically process, proof, and order their job with little to no human interaction.  The job would then be sent directly to the prepress or digital press operator to begin production.  This streamlines the production process, allows for faster turnarounds, and enables the customer to order print as quickly as checking e-mail.

Soft Proofing
Soft proofing involves using technology for viewing color-accurate proofs on a computer monitor.  This requires controlled viewing conditions and controlled lighting.  It also requires daily calibration of special monitors.  The initial investment cost is a few thousand dollars but the time and money saved in hard-copy proofs and shipping charges may be worth it. 
*This is not the same as viewing online soft proofs through web-2-print applications.  Web-2-print soft proofing is only used for layouts and is not color accurate unless calibrated monitors and controlled lighting conditions are available.

Complete PDF Workflow
Quality Printing Co., Inc., already has the technology and setup in place for an all-PDF workflow.  In fact, many clients already send us PDF files that flow seamlessly through our workflow.  The potential for problems to arise in PDF files is much less than any other format, however, we would have guidelines for you to follow when building PDF files.  If these guidelines are followed, we will have no problems with your files.  Even if you decide to make changes to your PDF’s after we receive them, we will be able to make nearly all alterations directly in the PDF file.  With our current software, we can make 95% of the changes that you request in the PDF if our guidelines are followed.  We are currently researching software that will bring that number to 100%.

Long-Run Web Printing
Run lengths of millions (depending on the size of the product) can be printed more economically through roll-fed web printing.  Web printing does bring with it a lower quality than sheet-fed offset, however, if you can deal with a slight loss in quality to save some money on the longer run jobs, web-offset may be an option.  We are in the process of partnering with a web-offset printer in order to offer these services.

Personalized URL’s (Purls)
Purls are the latest buzz in the print media/marketing world.  They can be added to direct mailers or e-mail marketing, which directs a targeted consumer back to a web page that is personally customized to that client.  This also allows you to track response and click rates better than the average direct marketing campaign.

Website Design
Quality Printing Co., Inc. is looking to offer website design and maintenance if our customers desire this service.  An investment has already been made to train our staff in website design and maintenance.  Currently our own personnel maintain our web site.  They have been trained in Dreamweaver, Flash, CSS, and Database Management.

Hybrid Ultraviolet (UV) Printing and Coating
Hybrid UV ink printing can offer faster turnarounds due to the speedy curing of the ink as well as lower dot gains.  Add the spectacular gloss of the UV coating and you can see why UV printing has become very popular in the field.
